Agreement is part of the SFA’s commitment to ensure community sports are accessible to all ages and abilities
The Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Association of Al-Wafa Oasis for the Elderly in Al-Qassim Province. The agreement will see the introduction of a program of activities, specially designed for the elderly, introduced across Al-Wafa Oasis facilities.
Signed by SFA President HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, and Association of Al-Wafa Oasis President, Abdulrahman Algaraawi, the agreement forms part of SFA’s strategy to provide inclusive programs that encourage sports and physical activities across all age segments.
The SFA will introduce a series of programs and events to increase the health and well-being of the elderly residents at Al-Wafa Oasis as part of its commitment to building a healthier Saudi Arabia under the Vision 2030 Quality of Life Program objectives.
“The agreement with the Association of Al-Wafa Oasis for Elderly Support in Al-Qassim is an important milestone in the SFA’s journey to launch programs that allow various population segments – in this case specifically the elderly – to experience the benefits of regular physical activity,” said Prince Khaled, remarking on the MoU’s significance. “The associated study to monitor the impact of the new activities will help the Federation determine what works best for sports and physical fitness targeted at elderly participants. This data is key to our next goal: developing a program that can be rolled out nationwide,” Prince Khaled added.
Abdulrahman Algarawwi, The Association of Al-Wafaa Oasis President added, “We welcome the partnership with the Sports for All Federation, which will build on our existing program to support the overall health and happiness of our residents. We are committed to providing state-of-the-art care facilities which are focused on maintaining well-being and enhancing the quality of life.”
“Our programs have received great recognition from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. We are currently implementing more programs in seven regions across the Kingdom supporting the Quality of Life program,” Algarawwi explained.
The agreement is another stepping stone in the SFA’s mandate towards increasing the number of people undertaking regular physical activity in the Kingdom to 40% by 2030 under the goals of the Vision 2030 Quality of Life program. The Sports for All Federation is working towards this target by facilitating sporting opportunities and initiating campaigns that encourage physical activities for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
