The Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) Board of Directors convened for its quarterly meeting at the Federation’s offices to review its achievements since the start of the year and look ahead at other ways to enhance the sports sector’s contribution to the Kingdom’s development.

Chaired by the Federation President HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, the board meeting attendees included HRH Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud, HE Mr Firass Alkassim, HE Dr Ghazi bin Zager, HE Ms Lina Almaeena, HE Mr Ayman Alfallaj, HE Mr Fawaz Farooqui, and HE Mr Bader Al-Asaker.

The Board hailed the success of the SFA’s 2024 events so far. The Riyadh Marathon had changed locations for its third edition, held on February 10, with its start and finish line next to Kingdom Arena and Boulevard World. It also attracted its most participants yet, with more than 20,000 taking part across four races. Around 60% of the competitors were Saudi citizens, with 36% female.

Other significant events for Q1 2024 included the third consecutive all-female Global Goals World Cup (GGWCUP) to be held in Saudi Arabia; the Tough Mudder obstacle course races; the brand new Jeddah Historic Half Marathon; the return of the SandClash functional fitness competition; and the SFA Dome challenges held during Ramadan.

A recent trip for SFA delegates to Greece was also discussed, meeting with government sports officials to exchange expertise and best practices, and tour some of the country’s most famous sports facilities. The SFA has also promoted itself at key regional events, speaking on a variety of panels, and forged new partnerships with entities such as Apple and the Generation Amazing Foundation in Qatar, working together on joint projects.

The Board extended its commendations to the leadership of the SFA for their unwavering commitment to spearheading programs that resonate with the wider populace, thereby catalyzing participation in sports and physical activities, and advancing the Saudi Vision 2030 Quality of Life objectives. It also underscored the necessity of ensuring the inclusivity of the Federation’s initiatives, thereby guaranteeing that all segments of society can reap the benefits of its endeavors.

The meeting concluded with optimism, reaffirming the collective resolve to further elevate the role of sports in enriching the lives of citizens and contributing to the development of the Kingdom.
