The latest Step Together event will coincide with World Environment Day, which takes place on June 5
Saudi Arabia’s active community has been invited to make the most of the Kingdom’s natural environment in the latest Step Together challenge, launching in June.
Step Together 6 will take place between June 3-12, coinciding with World Environment Day which takes place on June 5. Since 1974, World Environment Day has highlighted the most pressing global environmental issues, and served as a platform for inspiring positive change.
To mark this year’s celebration, the Saudi Sports for All Federation is challenging adults to walk or run a minimum distance of 21.1km, with children challenged to walk or run a minimum of 10km.
The 10-day event is the second in an eight-part series of Step Together challenges which will run until the end of the year. The first took place during the first 20 days of Ramadan, with more than 2,600 people signing up to take part.
Each of the eight challenges features a unique medal that is awarded to participants who complete the target distance. When put together, the eight medals make a circle with the map of the Kingdom in the center.
Participants in June’s Step Together event will also be entered into a raffle for the chance to win electronic prizes. On offer are three sports edition Apple Watches, three FitBit Charge 4s, and four JBL Reflect Mini Sports Bluetooth sports headphones.
As in the previous Step Together challenge, participants will have access to a dedicated event platform – My Race Result – which will allow them to upload and review all of their activities, view results, and interact with organizers and other participants.
To take part in the challenge, participants can visit the platform HERE and apply via the ‘registration’ tab, where they will be guided through the process.
Supported by the Ministry of Sport and Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, the SFA is mandated by Vision 2030’s Quality of Life Program to increase the ration of people undertaking physical activity at least once per week to 40% by 2030.
To do this, the SFA organizes initiatives, events and programs designed to help people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds build healthy habits and take part in regular, sustainable physical activity.
As well as individual and Community Sports Group challenges, the Federation has partnered with a raft of local and international organizations such Nike, PepsiCo, Majid Al Futtaim, and more, and rolled out a digital strategy that encompasses the SFA App, SFA Rewards loyalty program, and Healthy Living Portal. These avenues and more have helped the SFA ensure that people across the Kingdom have every opportunity to start, continue and evolve their fitness and wellbeing journey.
