As part of its ongoing mission to promote physical activity and overall well-being in the Kingdom, the Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Public Health Authority. The ceremony, attended by members of both parties to signal the start of the collaboration, underscores the commitment of these entities to contribute to a more active and prosperous society.
The collaboration between the SFA and the Public Health Authority will focus on several key areas, aligning with their respective competencies and capacities. Policies and initiatives will be developed that positively impact the levels of physical activity in the Kingdom, leveraging the specialized knowledge of each organization. Reports and studies will also be conducted, and provide an opportunity to share knowledge and experiences.
There will be a shared commitment to developing and enhancing a sustainable research infrastructure, with training for specialists greatly improved, empowering individuals to make greater contributions to the enhancement of physical activity. The partnership will also extend to building technical capabilities and expertise through jointly organizing and participating in conferences, workshops, and events that promote scientific knowledge exchange and innovation. Specialized technical committees will be formed too, addressing specific areas of physical activity development.
Community awareness campaigns will be another important joint venture, continuing to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity, as well as impact measurement, establishing mechanisms to follow up and assess the short-term and long-term impacts of these initiatives on society.
Shaima Saleh Al-Husseini, SFA Managing director, said: “Our collaboration with the Public Health Authority marks a pivotal moment in our shared commitment to building a healthier and more active society in the Kingdom. By uniting the expertise of the SFA with the public health insights of the Authority, we are poised to create a transformative impact on the well-being of the population. Together, we believe in fostering a culture of wellness that resonates across all segments of society.”
SFA is dedicated to increasing the percentage of youth as well as adults engaged in physical activity. The Public Health Authority aims to protect and enhance public health in the Kingdom, prevent disease, and raise public readiness to respond to health emergencies.
Together, these two entities are committed to creating a healthier, more active nation through the synergy of sports and public health initiatives.
