Leila EL Shenawy

Leila is the Special Olympics (SO) Middle East/North Africa (MENA) Regional Health Senior Manager. She is responsible for developing health initiatives and programming in SO programs in 23 MENA Countries, including all 22 Arab countries and Iran.

 

Born in Cairo in 1989, Leila earned her bachelor’s degree from The British University in Egypt, Majoring in Human Resources Management, in 2010. After six years of Talent Acquisition and management experience in ABB Multinational Engineering Company in Cairo, Leila shifted her career. She pursued her goal of joining Special Olympics MENA as a Regional Health Manager.

 

Leila’s brother ‘Omar’ has been an athlete at Special Olympics for more than 15 years, and as a family, they have been engaged intensely in Special Olympics different initiatives. Leila’s love for volunteering made her passionate about joining Special Olympics MENA and expanding her personal and work experience in this new role.

 

Through her experience at Special Olympics MENA since 2016, Leila has led and managed many events, in addition to her achievements in expanding the number of medical screenings and opportunities given to the athletes to have a better, healthier life and more health, fitness, and wellness awareness.
