Saudi Sports for All Federation Signs Memorandum of Understanding with King Abdulaziz University to Promote Physical Activity on Campus

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – June 2026

The Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with King Abdulaziz University (KAU) to promote physical activity among students and strengthen the presence of community sport across the university environment. The partnership aims to encourage healthier and more active lifestyles while supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The MoU was signed by His Royal Highness Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, President of the Saudi Sports for All Federation, and Dr. Tareef bin Yousuf Alaama, President of King Abdulaziz University. The signing ceremony was attended by Ms. Shaima Saleh AlHusseini, Managing Director of the Saudi Sports for All Federation, alongside representatives from the University and the Federation.

Commenting on the partnership, HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud said:

“Universities play a vital role in shaping the habits and behaviours of young people. At the Saudi Sports for All Federation, we believe that enabling young people to be physically active within the environments they engage with every day is a direct investment in a healthier and more thriving future. Through our partnership with King Abdulaziz University, we aim to activate campus spaces and make physical activity a sustainable part of student life, supporting quality of life and contributing to the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030.”

Ms. Shaima Saleh AlHusseini, Managing Director of the Saudi Sports for All Federation, highlighted the Federation’s commitment to designing accessible community sport programmes that respond to the needs of different segments of society, particularly young people and students.

“This partnership provides an important opportunity to bring community sport into the heart of university life through practical programmes and supportive environments that encourage students to participate and remain engaged. Our goal is to make active living part of the university experience, helping students strengthen both their physical and mental wellbeing while fostering a more engaged and active campus community.”

The agreement aims to promote community sport through an innovative approach inspired by the Saudi culture, while supporting the delivery of a range of SFA programmes and initiatives in collaboration with King Abdulaziz University. These include sporting events, participation-based activities, and student-focused engagement programmes. The partnership will also leverage the University’s facilities and resources to create greater opportunities for students to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives.

The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to promoting active lifestyles and expanding access to community sport among university students. It also aligns with growing international efforts to address physical inactivity and its impact on public health.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), regular physical activity contributes to improved physical and mental health and enhances quality of life. WHO estimates that one in three adults worldwide do not meet recommended levels of physical activity.

The organization recommends that adults engage in at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week. Against this backdrop, universities represent an important setting for encouraging active lifestyles and supporting healthy behaviours among young adults.

Through its programmes, initiatives, and strategic partnerships, the Saudi Sports for All Federation continues to expand opportunities for physical activity across the Kingdom, helping people of all ages and backgrounds lead healthier and more active lives.
