Walk Through the City: The Saudi Community Coming Together, Moving Together

Far from Home, Yet Still One Community

Washington, D.C. – May 17, 2025

The U.S. capital, Washington, D.C., witnessed a meaningful Saudi community gathering as families, students came together near the Lincoln Memorial to participate in the “Walk Through the City” event, an initiative designed to encourage physical activity while strengthening connections among members of the Saudi community in the United States.

A Community Moving Together

“Walk Through the City” was held with the support of the Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission (SACM) to the United States, and the Saudi Students Association at George Mason University.

The event brought together members of the Saudi community across the Washington metropolitan area, including students, families, and professionals working in diplomatic and academic sectors.

Designed to be inclusive and accessible to people of all fitness levels, the event attracted strong participation from young adults aged 18 to 30, with balanced representation from both men and women. Activities began with a group warm-up session before participants chose their preferred pace—walking, jogging, or running—in a welcoming, non-competitive environment that reflected the shared spirit of a community moving together.

Extending Saudi Vision 2030 and the Sports for All Mission

With the support of SFA, participants received event T-shirts featuring the Federation’s logo, highlighting the initiative’s connection to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to enhance quality of life and promote a culture of physical activity across society.

The initiative also reflects SFA’s commitment to supporting community-based activities that encourage Saudis to adopt healthier and more active lifestyles, extending the Federation’s mission beyond the Kingdom and into Saudi communities around the world.

After the Walk, the Story Continues

The Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission to the United States documented the event through official social media coverage, capturing the energy, enthusiasm, and sense of connection that brought members of the Saudi community together throughout the day.

More than a physical activity event, “Walk Through the City” demonstrated how community-driven initiatives can strengthen social bonds, foster a sense of belonging, and encourage healthier lifestyles—even thousands of miles away from home.

Together.. towards healthy active community.
