The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) to promote community sports and physical activities throughout the AlUla province. This partnership aims to create a healthier, more active community by fostering a culture of physical fitness and well-being.
The signing ceremony was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, Chairman of the SFA, Ms. Shaima Al Husseini, Managing Director of the SFA, and Mr. Ziyad Al Suhaibani, Chief Sports Officer of the RCU.
The MoU sets forth a framework for the RCU and SFA to collaborate on initiatives that raise awareness about the importance of physical fitness and encourage active lifestyles. This includes the development of opportunities for community participation, the promotion of sports activities in schools and recreational spaces, and fostering engagement in adopting active and healthy routines.
As part of the agreement, the RCU and SFA will coordinate efforts to host seasonal and public sporting events, aimed at inspiring AlUla residents to embrace regular physical activities. These events are designed to cultivate a culture of wellness, support long-term athlete development, and contribute to the broader goal of creating a vibrant, active community.
This collaboration aligns with the RCU’s mission to enhance the quality of life in AlUla by supporting various sectors, including sports, as part of the broader vision for the region. Through this partnership, the RCU and SFA will deliver tailored programs and initiatives that empower residents to lead healthier lifestyles, in line with AlUla’s development and the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
AlUla’s dynamic sports scene is home to a range of notable international events, including the Saudi Tour cycling race, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Endurance Cup, the AlUla International Tent Pegging Championship in Traditional Sport Dress, the AlUla Camel Cup, and the AlUla Falcon Championship. The region has also introduced community-driven initiatives such as sports academies, seasonal tournaments, a 30km running track, and newly developed parks and recreational spaces across AlUla’s neighborhoods, enhancing access to sports activities for all.
