Join episode eight of our Summer Camp series with Coach Saad, who takes your little one through a routine of new moves to build healthy muscles.

His warmup incorporates a sequence of moves that starts with kicks, a super warm up for the legs and glutes. This exercise improves the flexibility of the hamstrings. It’s best to keep the movement fast to get the heart pumping. The cardio continues with running on the spot. Third, he moves into back kicks which help to increase the speed of hamstring contractions, which can help your little one run faster.

His first workout is two exercises repeated once. First is the up down, make sure your little on has a soft surface like a carpet or yoga mat since they will alternate being on each knee and stepping up into a standing position, targeting the quads, glutes, hamstrings, and calves. These muscles continue to work with the next exercise – burpees, which also build the arms, back, chest, and core.

Coach Saad’s second workout sequence starts with pistol squats to exercise the glutes, quads, hamstrings, hip adductors, calves, and core muscles while training balance and stability. This move also increases ankle joint mobility and flexibility. If your child is battling to keep their balance, let them hold onto a chair. Those muscles stay engaged with the second exercise – wall sits. This exercise also works the lower abs and is easy on the knees. He finishes off the sequence with toe taps which help stretch out the muscles.

If your child is enjoying the sequence of this workout, you can repeat it for them so they can do another if they feel up to it.

Finally, Coach Saad moves on to his easy cool down, which provides the body with a smooth transition from exercise back to a steady state of rest.

Stay tuned for the next two episodes of Summer Camp fit ‘n fun for little ones!
